The Challenge
The water supply department from a renowned city in India received multiple complaints a day regarding the functional meter problems installed at their property. The sector was unable to find a way to verify customer issues due to the lack of information about the meters before they went on-site. They were on a serious lookout to resolve the customers’ complaints.
The Solution
- We designed & introduced field crews based on the ESRI technology that is capable of capturing the meter information during the time of installation.
- Using GIS developed applications the members of the team can record the accurate location and the condition of the meters.
- Our team members captured & documented various before and after images of the installation process for future reference.
- The documented information was synced with the sector’s data every night, by doing this, the information has become available to the entire utility services team through GIS.
Results
This process resulted in detailed, accurate and up-to-date information about its meters, thus the sector effectively & rapidly resolved the customer issues. Now, the field crews can easily download the informational data about the meter slots much before they start to a customer’s place
This beneficial GIS-based data can now be accessed by the whole division. This holistic information is now loaded into the sector’s customer information system(CIS) providing access to track the installation progress within a short period of time.
